The enterprise software market is about to be rebuilt around AI agents.

And companies are paying insane premiums for the engineers who can build this.

The "Agentic Enterprise" vision: instead of employees manually moving data between systems, AI agents handle the workflows. Procurement agent processes purchase orders. Finance agent reconciles invoices. HR agent screens resumes. Legal agent reviews contracts.

Each agent is specialized. They communicate through standardized protocols (MCP). They escalate to humans for decisions beyond their authority. They learn from corrections.

Companies building this: Salesforce (Agentforce), Microsoft (Copilot Studio), ServiceNow, Workday AI, and hundreds of startups.

The hiring demand is unprecedented. I'm seeing job postings for "Enterprise Agent Developer" at $180K-$320K. "Agent Orchestration Architect" at $200K-$350K.

Skills required: multi-agent system design, tool calling and MCP, enterprise integration (knowing how ERP, CRM, and HRIS systems work), security and compliance for autonomous systems, and human-in-the-loop design patterns.

The interesting wrinkle: domain knowledge of enterprise processes is as valuable as the ML skills. An agent developer who understands how procurement actually works builds better procurement agents.

This is a multi-hundred-billion-dollar market being rebuilt from scratch. The engineers who build the agentic enterprise layer will be the architects of how work gets done for the next decade.

The window to establish yourself in this space is right now.
